What's all this gum-beating about racial profiling?

I have been meaning to write but last one of our clients sold an
exercise on a Bermudan credit default swaption and got walloped for $75
million.

So I spent last week flying between Toronto, Paris and Tokyo.

Coming back on-topic, what's all this fuss about racial profiling? If
99% of all suicide bombers are Middle Eastern youths, then there's
little point stopping old, white ladies, right?

Forgive me for asking, but didn't you at some point identify yourself as
from India?
That would give you some resemblance to others from Islamic South East Asian
countries who are not so benign.
If this is the case, I applaud your attitude, since you may have been
subject to the inconvenience of misidentification at security checkpoints.

I do get routinely stopped at security - the dreaded 'SSSS' on the
boarding card.

But if it makes everyone feel safer, including me, then what's the harm?

Yet another thing we can agree on.

My Liberal lawyer brother in law on the other hand opposes both profiling
and cameras like the have in Britain, since he says they don't prevent
anything, while I argue that they help catch perps.

The best method of crime prevention is the
capture of those who have
committed past crimes.

Although, it is not a very good way of
preventing suicude bombings, as there aren't
any previously succesful suicide bombers to catch.
