The passing of Howard Ferstler from the audio scene, to an existence chained
to a blood pressure cuff, heralds the possibility of a return to a pristine
rec.audio.opinion, where objectivity and subjectivity exist in proper
balance and with healthy respect for each other.
In the end, Ferstler Did Not Make A Difference. He passes from the scene
with a whimper, not a bang, his message to be soon forgotten, his audio
hoard to be redistributed by his heirs and assigns via either eBay or
Audiogon (Howard, make your choice explicit, to avoid heavenly
disappointment!)
This should be a lesson for anyone who thinks they have a mission on usenet
to change people's minds about anything. Anyone who spends time here
thinking that his message is gradually changing the milieu in which we live
consorts with a delusion. The World has much bigger concerns on its
collective mind.
