I came by these speakers second hand from a close friend. I was a bit put off as I have never heard of AER???
For the price I figured that I couldn't go wrong. Paying $100 to my friend I took the speakers home for their initial debut, I did listen while at my friends but never give much credit to any audio component I can't listen to in my own home.
I was surprised at the overall detail and feel of a realistic soundstage for speakers in this price range. Coupled with a Velodyne 10" sub these speakers were able to produce depth, soundstage, and clarity not commonly associated with price range.
I have since utilized these speakers in a home theater application in a medium sized room. They perform flawlessly.
Beyond performance these speakers are a eye/ comment catcher, and eyeryone whom has seen them asks me about them and routinely believes that I spent $1000 on the pair.
Conclusion:
These speakers are a steal for the price, $120 new on Ebay. They have the ability to compete with speakers two or three times their price tag. Are they Paradigms, or B & W's, not really, but the price tag and the performance is attractive for anyone looking to get into the world of "audiophile", without the huge price tag.
One note:
These speakers don't require a lot of power to drive and I would be cautious as most home theater amps suggest 90-100 wats per chanel and these speakers are rated at 60w
