Problem burning CD

I tried to copy and burn a CD with the Sony CD Xtreme and failed.

I managed to get an image of the CD onto my HD but burning was the problem.
I am using TDK and I get a message like "Put a CD in the drive." I had a
blank
CD there at one time. Then I formatted it as a data disk with Instant Write
but
it recognized either. What is it expecting?

I remember years ago doing this with EAC. Anyone remember that one and
whether
it is still available?

I just found the freebee Burnatonce and it did the job very well.
