View Full Version : Wanted: Good Universal Player
Wanted: One universal CD/SACD/DVD player.
Should have a commercial grade (such as they are...) transport
mechanism and replacement mechanicals and lasers guaranteed available
for five years plus one extra year for every hundred dollars of
purchase price above $500. Service manual mandatory.
Should have a low impedance output good for single ended or balanced
operation (toobs optional) into +4 or -10 environments. Prefer Neutrik
XLR/phone (not phono) jack out or barrier strip. Must have attenuator
with knob (preferably large) on front panel setting both channels at
matched level, for volume control-remote controllable OK but not
mandatory.
Should be in heavy case with substantial back panel and set up for
sanitary 19" racking or bench/shelf use.

Either device can be made but demand is too low to cover development.

A precident for the kind of player that Cal is looking for
might be the HHB Burn-It 830 CD burner.

Note the XLR I/O.
However, the output level control only controls the
headphone output. And, it doesn't do DVDs at all.
Under the covers, its a repackaged Aiwa.

I don't think he's looking for a president.

I'm sure he'll run out and buy one on the spot.
