Polk R50 vs Monitor 50

Hi,

I'm in the market for a pair of floorstanding front speakers and
narrowed my choice to Polk R50 & Polk Monitor 50. I'm a newbie and
trying to build my 1st Home Theatre system. Can someone please tell me
which one is better, R50 or Monitor 50 ?

Well, the R50's are considerably more expensive list price wise. See
http://tinyurl.com/8ur2y However, if you live near a Fry's Electronics, they
often go on sale cheap - yesterday, they were $138 per PAIR. I paid $160 a
PAIR a few months ago at Fry's. Not a bad sounding speaker especially for
the Fry's sale price but for hometheater, their bass is a bit anemic so
you'll need a decent sub too.
