Need help with new setup - Does this sound like a good idea?

Hi all.

Im new to car audio setups, and have a few questions. So far I have
the following gear:

1. 1 800watt, 4 channel amp (Avalanche).
2. 4 speakers which are 25watt minimum, and 100watt maximum (VDO).
3. 1 10'inch sub. Not sure what the watts (rms?) for that is.

Basically, the way I figure it, if I have:

*1 channel from the amp being split into the front speakers, giving
them 100watt each
*The second channel from the amp being split into the rear speakers,
giving them 100watt each
*The two remaining channels being bridged into the sub at 400watts.

This means that the speakers are running at thier maximum 100watt
recomendation, and the amp is running at its 800watt maximum.

Is it a very good idea to be doing this? Should I be putting this much
power into everything? Any recommendations?

One major problem I see with this is that you effectively no longer
have stereo speakers since you are feeding the same signal to both
front and the other signal to the rear. It's going to sound strange.

If you have to do it this way I would put the left side speakiers in
series on one channel and the right side speakers in series on the
other channel.

If it's 200rms x 4 at 4 ohms, then (assuming your 4 corner speakers
are 4 ohms) wiring 2 of them together in series will get 50rms to each
speaker. Wiring in parallel will give each one 200rms IF the amp is
2ohm stable. If it isn't, you'll have a problem.

Dont do that anyway.... Your fronts will be the left channel and your
rears will be the right, that isn't gonna sound right.

Same for the sub, if it's 4ohm, each channel will push 2 ohms of that
load, resulting in 800rms. IF it's an 8ohm sub then you're fine.

This whole setup is just wrong... This amp by itself is not the right
thing for this job. You should get a second sub amp, or at the very
least, wire your lefts and rights together (not your fronts/rears).
In this sub-optimal configuration, you won't be able to adjust your
fader or control your rear-fill volume in any way. And that's IF your
amp can do 2 ohms.

I'd almost just rather run the fronts and subs with NO rear
speakers....
