View Full Version : Domesticating ex-car audio system

Hi all,
I'm starting a project on domesticating an audio system
that used to sit in my car - and I'd have a few questions
for those more experienced than myself:

The system consists of a 3-way set by Focal (165 ex),
which contains the tn46 tweeter, a 4k3 midrange and a 6k2 midbass.
on top of that, I was using an Infinity beta 15" as a sub.

Has anyone used the Beta-15 successfully as a home sub? if so, what
enclosure would be recommended? Most standard enclosure designs (sealed,
vented) that I constructed using speaker-box software show a very bad
"free field" bass response. Should i use an EQ to "artificially" boost
the bass to compensate for the tailing off response from the enclosure?
Similarly, any suggestions as how to design the cabinets for the Focal
set would be warmly welcomed.

Sorry to sound like such a newbie - but this is my first "home audio" project.

thanks in advance,
Danny
