I'm still reading and asking tons of questions. I have gone to two
local dealers and they have put a few things together for me. If you
have any comments, I would love to hear them. I'm really not looking
to bounce down the street and do mainly a lot of back country camping,
so I spend a lot of time driving to my destinations. I won't be
showing anything off, and when the wife is in the car, the volume will
barely be over a whisper. ;)

The HU I have decided on is the Alpine 9835. Since Alpine is coming
out with an iPod interface and is now also Sirius capable, it has sold
me on the HU, everything else is up in the air. My vehicle is an '04
Ext. cab Silverado.

Dealer 1 proposal
Front Speakers 6-1/2" Eclipse component SP8962 $199.99
Rear Speakers Same as front
AMP: Eclipse 5 channel EA-3532 $399.99
SUB: Listed as "MISC" approx $125 cost (Custom enclosure $250 build
cost)

Dealer 2 proposal
Front Speakers 6-1/2" Memphis 15-MC60 (Coaxial) $120.00
Rear Spakers 4x6 Memphis 15-MC465 (Coaxial) $110.00
AMP: Memphis Belle 16-MC600D (55x4) + (400x1)
SUB: Pre-fabed box that goes under the ext. cab rear seat $200 (That
includes 2 10" Sub Extrem model, I would probably replace the Subs)

Question, is component speakers THAT much better than coaxial?

Thanks!

PS Budget is ~$1500 (Installation included)

Components do sound better than co-axial's, mostly becuase of the imaging.

Personally i think both arent that great of a deal.

I would got with the following setup

Front Speakers: the eclipse compnents
Rear Seakers: Leave stock, they are rear fill, you should not have to
replace these.
Amp: Memphis amp
Sub: Neither, they both seem like no-name brand subs at a premium price.
Skip the sub on both and get yourself something like the JL Audio stealth
box, i think they make one for your truck.
