What is Tripath?

I have heard a lot about Tripath and "Class T", however what is it
exactly that they do? I have a Class D subwoofer amp plate amp for my
theatre that says "Tripath" on it. What gives? Is it a more efficent
version of Class D, or is it just an expensive brandname with no real
benifits?
