There are many charities and government agencies to help the poor, the out
of work and the infirmed in the US. Whilst this is gratifying, I appalled at
the treatment dished out to the 1,000 odd millionaires who have become
tragically displaced due to the recent mud slides in California. How can the
US so callously disregard these poor souls? Is there a charity where one can
contribute to their well-being. I imagine every 5 star hotel in So Cal is
booked out. Where will they go? Surely not to some $50.00 a night motel?
This is truly a tragedy of epic proportions.

You never heard of insurance? There may well be some government
payment if the ground the homes sat on was cleared by the city
government's people.
I can't feel too sorry for people who build their homes on the side of
a hill, especially in earthquake prone California.

This is true. The governemnt issued a building permit.
Also, it likely must have been based on the developer's geophysical
engineering report

Something like 45 million and rising. Worse, nobody knows for sure how many

Thank you for confirming my point, pervert.
If the legislation tolerated 14, you wouldn't have any scruples. This is why
you are travelling in countries of weak legislation.
Perhaps it will take some time but we will have you enjalled, Sackman.

Signal burped:
"Sorta like ethnic cleansing... but for the poor :-("
Ethinc cleansing is the government killing people. Not having
insurance is more like suicide.
Is it your position that people are entitled to health insurance?
Who should pay for it? Why?
If I get sick I pay my medical bills, I have insurance through my
employer.
The last surgery I had required and overnight stay in the hospital, the
bill was $82,000.00, of which I am required to pay $600.00. Not having
insurance is usually a sign of stupidity not poverty. Poor people have
county, state, and Federal resources to pay their medical bills.
Nobody who NEEDS medical care is denied medical care, in this country.

I was in boarding school at Haileybury and I got whacked on the face
with a squash racket, blood dripping into my eye and all the rest.
I was driven down to the local hospital in Hertford and I didn't have
any of my insurance information, so the nurse put me in the NHS queue. I
waited for four hour with a shot glass plopped over my eye.
Now that was not cool.
But I do agree with you, wealthy people also go the NHS route for a lot
of stuff.

At least 15 to 20 million of that 45 million are illegal aliens. Take the
remaining 20 million (the 45 million mark is exaggerated), and compare that
to a population that's pushing 300 million. That leaves only about 7%,
hardly a number worth going to an inevitably mismanaged, overpriced,
inefficient nationalized health care system for. There's a reason Canadians
with money are coming down to the US in droves for health care, they don't
want to wait. The inevitable outcome of managed healthcare is to increase
the delay until people die or go elsewhere before they get served to ration
the care.

We know about it, that's why we don't have it here.
Hopefully, we never will. Even better would be to abolish what
socialized medicne we have. It will never be good, it will always cost
too much, and it will always be riddled with fraud.

I don't think I will be making a friendly visit
to one who continues to call me such things.
At any rate, trips to prison are very

Arny has a slightly differnt ploy. Corn falkes and milk instead
