Okay, here's the problem. I had a sound system installed in my old car
(proffessionally installed) and everything worked just fine. I bought a new
head unit that I installed myself. Everything worked fine at first, but then
my subs would cut in and out as if there was a loose connection and then
finally stopped playing altogether. The power light on the amp would stay
on, just nothing would come out of the subs. A couple of weeks later my
front components, which were also hooked to an amp stopped working also. At
that point I was in the process of buying a new truck so I didn't worry too
much about fixing it because I knew I'd be pulling everything out of the car
anyway. Well I finally got around to getting it all installed in my new
truck (this time around I was just getting the front components installed
and holding off on the subs), but the place that was doing the installation
called me up and said they were having the same problem I was having before,
the amp was getting power but nothing was coming from the speakers. They
even tried hooking the speakers (these are brand new speakers also, not the
ones I had in my other car) to the amp that I'm going to use my for my subs,
and still got nothing. So I figured it was the pre-outs on the new head unit
I had bought, so I bought a new one in hopes that it would work. Well, this
one I hooked up myself and still got nothing, so I'm not sure what to do. If
it's the amp, that would mean both amps are blown since neither of them put
out anything, but the power light comes on for both of them. Is there anyway
I can test to see if the amps are putting out a signal? I really can't
afford to put out anymore money at this point. Very frustrating.
