View Full Version : Car stereo query

I have just purchased a Pioneer DEH-P5600MP MP3 car stereo and put it in my
Saxo. However, unlike the standard factory fitted CD player that was
previously in the car, the Pioneer doesn't turn on without the ignition
being on. I just wondered why this was and if it could be altered so that
the stereo would come on without having to turn on the ignition all of the
time?
Furthermore, when the engine is switched off, unlike my previous Kenwood MP3
player, the new Pioneer one doesn't remember the last place that it was when
playing an MP3, but instead starts from the very beginning of the CD again.
Is this because it doesn't have the specific feature that remembers where it
was previously, or is it due to something else, like the power not getting
to the unit once the engine is off and so it is unable to store its last
position in memory? Is there anything I can do so that it does remember the
last position?
Cheers

For the power without igntion thing, unless you hook up the (Red) wire to a
batter contant, no you cant. I would recommend doing this as it can kill
your battery. If you really want it on without the key, you could alway
wire it up to a small toggle switch and put that on the dashboard so you can
turn it on at will.
As for the cd track starting over. let me ask you this, does it remember
your radio presets? set a radio station on the presets and turn the igntion
off. If it goes away when you turn it back on you wired it up wrong and all
you have to do is switch to the right way.

When you say ignition, do you mean the hardship of having to put it in
position I?

Sounds like you need to swap the permanent and switched 12v feeds over.

DISCLAIMER - THIS WORKED ON MY MATES SAXO AND 206, I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY
IF YOU ZAP SOME STUFF
Is there a seperate red and yellow wire? Pretty much, you've connected red
to red, and yellow to yellow? If this is true, connect red to yellow and
yellow to red and it will work.
