View Full Version : Buying music CD's from overseas?

I am interested in buying several music CD's that aren't available in the
U.S. (not that I hate much of the U.S. music quality and artists out
there -- but, sadly, I do). I've listened to tracks off Amazon but much of
what I want are imports and many are not available for whatever reason. I
can get them from Tower Records in the U.K. as a source.
Has anyone tried this and had any difficulties with region codes or the CD's
not playing? I'm guessing the order time may be slow as well.
Tia.

As long as a cd is a 44.1/16bit red book cd.. it should work everywhere.
Orange book cd's are played easily by alot of players as well.

While I have never ordered from Tower (any location), ordering from overseas
is usually pretty quick. If whoever you order from gives shipping options,
NEVER choose Surface Mail. That will take months. The more savvy companies
realize this and only offer Airmail and Express Mail.
I have ordered from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr, Amazon.de, Amazon.co.jp, and
CDJapan.co.jp, to name just a few, and have always been pleasantly surprised
by how fast my orders arrive. Specifying Express Mail shipping from Japan, I
get new releases the day after they're released.

There are no region codes for CDs, only DVDs.

I order from an Italian dealer quite often. No problem (except timing
a favorable dollar/Euro exchange rate.)
