Hi,
It's been a long time since I've been on this group, I used to frequent
it many many moons ago (when I had money to blow on car stereo stuff).
Anyway, I recently inherited a car from an ex-girlfriend who left quite
a bit of stereo equipment in it. I'm fixing it up and putting the stereo
in is key, but I need to purchase two key components.
I've got 6 good aftermarket speakers, as well as a nice subwoofer
enclosure. I'm going to purchase a Nakamichi head unit (either a CD-400
if I can't get a cheap CD-45z somewhere. I won't go higher than $300.)
Now I have 2 old four channel amps, but they are both low-end ****ty
models. They crank out a lot of juice but it's dirty juice. (A profile
and a Crunch USA for those taking notes)
Anyway, at first I was going to use the built-in amp from the head unit
to power four of the speakers, and use one of the amps to power the
other two speakers, then bride into the sub channel, but I was
thinking... Why would I get a nice head unit like a Nakamichi and send
its signal through a **** amp?
I'm fine with using either the Crunch or Profile amp to power the sub,
and get a decent amp to power at least two of my speakers. Ideally I'd
like to get a 4-channel amp and use two channels on the front speakers
and bridge into the sub (a JL W0). That way I could sell the Crunch and
Profile amps on ebay or something and save myself the embarrassment of
having either of those brands in my car.
I'm on a budget here, and I really do not want to spend much money.
Also, I have been out of the scene for a while now and I'm not sure
what's good to buy for nice sound quality. I'm looking for suggestions
on possible 2 and 4 channel amps to satisfy my scenario here. Thanks in
advance.
