View Full Version : advice on mp3 jukebox for recording voice

April 22nd 05, 03:47 PM
Hello,

Can someone give me an advice on a mp3 jukebox that records
voice at least as well as minidics? I would like to record
choir and singing classes.

I've heard about Iriver jukeboxes but I found a rather negative
review on

http://emusician.com/mag/emusic_iriver/index.html

Is there another manufacturer that would be a safer choice?

I am looking preferably for something below $300, I don't need
professional quality. Of course an input for external
microphone is important. Recording directly to mp3 is not
essential.

I friend of mine recommends me to buy a minidisc, but I would
rather have a 20G hard disk with everything in it than a
bunch of minidiscs around... Also, it seems that it is not
easy to transfer records made with minidiscs to the computer...

I've found an interesting thread "Advice wanted: mp3 recorders"
in rec.audio.pro but it is already from 2003...

Thanks a lot!
Adriane

Dunno if it can hit your price point (but it comes close), but try a
used Nomad Jukebox and the Sound Professionals preamplified microphone
SP-PASM-2. I mention them all on my recording page--scroll own and
look for the section "Trial #1: Now a great alternative solution for
those seeking more flexibility":

The used Creative Nomad Jukebox can be had for well under a $100 on
ebay (be sure to get a model with a line input), and at $209 the
preamplified mic will do it all for ya. Very very very flat response
in a compact package.

The Creative Nomad Jukebox is out there in 6Gb 10Gb flavors "creative
nomad jukebox" isn't a bad search string but dunno if the Zen or MUVO have
line ins. Look for the ones that have the CD player size and
roundness.

Here are a few:

Good luck!

One possible source of information:

The group focuses on 'using the Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox 3 for field
audio recording'.
