I have my dvd player going into a receiver with surround sound. For
audio i use the digital audio cable into the receiver. My problem is,
the volume of speaking parts of movies is too soft while the music is
too loud.

I normally listen to music at the volume set at 30. for a movie i need
to put the volume up to 50 to hear the voices, but the music is
blasting when there is music played in the movie. Any suggestions?

Not only that - center channel speaker?

Taking care of both should cure your problem, especially having a
decent center channel speaker. That's where you'll find a focus for
much of the dialogue.

Dialog in surround material is output mainly from the center channel,
so increase the volume of the center channel.

Why did you say that? Is this in response to a question, or did you just
feel like talking about surround sound?
