Greetings,
I've just purchased a second hand car that already has a
combo cd/cassette unit in it. It's an aweful, unidentifiable 'cheap and
nasty' jobbie, but I've found an almost identical unit on the web (exactly
the same design, but a different colour and not available in Aus) that
claims to be 50x4 output.
The problem I've got is a continuous and quite loud 'hiss' from the speakers
whenever the power is on to the unit, regardless of which input source I
select, and I have to turn the volume up quite a long way to get any
significant sound from CD's. Even with it up this high, the sound isn't
that loud.
There's a pair of 100 watt Kenwood 2 ways in the back and a pair of 4" dual
cone Pioneers of some description in the front (haven't looked to see what
rating they are).
I'm just wondering if there's anything obvious I can check to see what the
problem might be, or if this is just the 'norm' with cheap stereo units.
Thanks,
MrBonk
