How long do the batteries last? How much are they to replace?
thanks

Battery life depends on actual usage. I've seen them last from 3 weeks to 3
years. Average lifetime seems to be about 1 year.

I'm assuming you're referring to the 2-way pager-type systems. For
instance, the Responder from DEI.
I have had 2 different Responder remotes: the old gray one and the newer
black one. I'll only comment on these in particular, but I'm sure
anything with a AAA battery will yield similar results.
Battery life is dependent on how often you actually use it, whether you
have it in chirp or vibrate mode, have the backlight turned on or off,
etc. Mine will go for months of normal usage if I have it in chirp and
backlight-off mode. I use it for remote start quite frequently,
especially in winter. If I have it vibrate and have the backlight on,
battery seems to be cut down to a matter of weeks of normal usage. Of
course, if you have it in your pocket and buttons get hit accidentally
often, that only wears it down faster. The bonus about the Responder and
Valet units from DEI/Directed is that they have a battery meter so you
know about how much you have left

- have some extra batteries on hand when it starts getting low in case
it won't unlock your car. Not fun otherwise, especially with a pain
generator installed.
