I was just about to order a dual 4-ohm IDQ12 sub to be powered by my MTX
251d amp (250W x 1 at 2 ohms):
http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/thunder251D.cfm
.... when I was told that I wanted the dual 2-ohm version of the sub. My
understanding is that I wanted the dual 4-ohm version and I would wire it
in parallel for a 2-ohm load. Am I correct or should I be getting the
dual 4-ohm version?
Thanks in advance and sorry for such a basic question,
Don
you are correct sir 4 ohms parralel = 2 ohms

Robert's right - you want the dual-4 ohm version. The person you were
talking to may have not have realized that your MTX amp was stable
into a 2-ohm mono load. Most amps are only rated for a 4-ohm mono
load, so that's probably why the person you talked to was suggesting
the dual 2-ohm version.

And by the way, thanks for posting the full make and model of your
amp, as well as a link to a description. I wish more people that
asked questions here would do that.
