This shows there are 25632 items in rec.audio.opinion.
I guess I can access a mere 1,000, valid from 27 Feb.
Where are these other articles and/or msgs?
I'm in the dark!

Here is where you start: 0800 183 0123
You might even know how to contact your ISP's support dept., although that
information is not shown on their web site.
I think you need a 2-mile view. Try putting "usenet and news server and
messages" into a search engine.

Some of this is dependent on your newsreader, some is dependent on your ISP.

Probably on your ISP's news server, but inacessible because of some settings
and properties of your newsreader.

Could be your Outlook Express newsrc file is corrupt, your news settings
in the client are wrong or a problem with the NTLWorld server. Try
checking your tools > options > read and maintenance settings related to
newsgroups. Try unsubscribing and resubscribing to the group and
download all the headers again. If that all fails, try a different news
client and see if that pulls all the available headers and you can get
the articles. If not, then it could be NTL has reduced their retention
or has a problem. There are free servers you can try instead.
My access page has info on some free news clients and servers. I
recommend WinVN and Free Agent clients. XNews is suppose to be nice too.

Jim says
thank you to George, Arny, and anon for their help in unravelling my missing
topics' headers and/or contents.
The losses affect all 6 rec.audio.xxxx and uk.rec.audio newsgroups, all of
which quote huge *unread* numbers in my Outlook Express 6, but the headers
made available bear no resemblance in quantity and date range, even if
expanded.
I'm new to this newsgroup game, and I have appreciated your combined
help.Will try all advice given!
But as it is all read-/save-/print-only, and as "Delete" is not a function,
why ration its *list of headers* size in the first place by giving just a
teasing amount? I am using 300kb ASD cable.

So 1,000 messages isn't enough? ;-)
Seriously, your newsreader may have some limits or something. Nobody
edits RAO, for better or for worse.
Here's another way to look at RAO, although I don't know how many
messages they keep. They go back at least a few years:

You can also use Google to search newsgroups and find other newsgroups.
One nice thing about using Google to look at newsgroups via the web is
that you can look at newsgroups anywhere you have web access.
