I suspect that many Stereophile readers would be no more upset to find that
the RCL is made of whole cloth, than to find that the pictures in Playboy
are of girls who were liposuctioned, injected with collagin, stuffed with
bags of silicon or saline, and the pictures carefully airbrushed. ;-)
IMO, Stereophile is often about the illusion, and the form. We heard the
editor himself admit that when substance and function collide with making
interesting reading and selling ragazines, that's just too bad. The
advertisers pay most of the bills, so they call the tune.

Thank you. I suspect that high on Atkinson's agenda will be alive demo of my
RAO personna's dark side. I'd like to hear him read a list of my top 10 most
stinging insults.

When did I disagree with Dick Pierce about something technical? Maybe I
have a short memory...

Let's face it, having one's technical expertiese compared to Cal's is
something like being damned with faint praise.

It's interesting how the heat around here seems to be getting turned down
the last few weeks.

Your ability to misinterpret what others say, Mr. Krueger, continues
to astonish. First you accuse me of demeaning your audio views in
a message in which I actually affirm your right to hold whatever
views you wish based on your experience. Now you make up an
admission I have not made nor would I make. No, I haven't "admitted"
this, nor have I said anything like this.

No, that's wrong also.

The only difference between you and I John is that you publish your
misinterpretations of my viewpoint on your web site where I can't comment on
them with a level playing field.

Yes, but you posted your misinterpretations of my viewpoint in a place where
I can't comment on them with equal exposure.

No, but in fact you said something that was roughly analogous.

Actual facts and figures to follow?
I seriously doubt it! ;-)

Middius' intellectual dishonesty in the form of a butchered, out-of-context
quote noted.
Middius' intentionally inflamitory of my wife noted.
Note, this is the same Middius who whines when I get a little frank with one
of his disciples.
Bottom line is that Middius likes to dish it out, but he can't take it.

I didn't know your wife had an inflamitory.
I am glad Middius noted it. Now she can get it checked out.

Perhaps disagree is a bit strong. I recall in the RAT thread
"Improving One's Speakers," you comment on adding a subwoofer and
Pierce responded that, that shows up weakness in the main speakers, or
words to that effect. On the substance of tweaks mentioned in that
thread, you were certainly in agreement.

I think you've just insulted everyone with real technical expertise.
Cal seems to regurgitate stuff that somebody told him, as opposed to
actual technical info. His comments on pro amps and speakers, show an
appaling level of misinformation.

As you subsequently clarified that I hadn't misrepresented your
viewpoint, then withdrew that clarification but were unable to
point to any of your viewpoints that I had misrepresented, Mr.
Krueger, I can only assume you are continuing to repeat this
erroneous statement out of grumpiness.
You are, of course, welcome to raise the issue of my supposed
misrepresentations of your views at the HE2005 debate.

How much technical expertise does it take, to reccognize when you
power up a PA amp the fan makes noise??

Free associate much, Cal?
You've laid absolutely no logical groundwork for this comment. None.

Try putting 12V on a DC fan and see what happens.

Here we go folks: Robert Morien's technical wisdom for the day - "All 12
volt fans sound the same".
Of course the really funny part is the fact that in his poorly-informed
rants about QSC USA-400 amps he's missed the fact that they have no fans.
He's also missed the fact that many if not all QSC amps don't have 12 volt
fans.

We DO need to remember that John's primary goal these days
is to insure the survival of his magazine, or at least his
job. All else is secondary.
The monster he and his buddies have created is on the verge
of eating them.

Only part wrong. Your readers, who have come to depend on
the magazine for life-affirming, mythological mumbo jumbo,
also obviously call some tunes themselves. You need those
subscribers.
Cross them, John, and those advertisers and subscribers will
ALL turn on you.
Gad, it must be hell editing a tweako magazine.
