View Full Version : help - replacing speakers on the 2001 accord coupe

February 14th 05, 02:15 AM
Hi,
A few questions about changing speakers on a 2001 Accord coupe
(Canadian model)

Can anyone point me to a manual/guide that helps replacing the speakers
easy? The rear ones shouldn't be a huge challenge. With some time i
should be able to figure out.

I am worried about changing the front ones (the 6 1/2s) for which i
need to remove the door inside panels.

Can anyone describe the steps to safely and without scratching anything
up - remove this part and replace speakers.

Also (very important) when i am replacing the rear speakers - is there
a reason to keep the old stock speaker covers (i dunno if they will fit
because of the shape of the new ones)?

And both for front and back - beyond making sure everything is tight
and fast - do i have to do anything else to ensure i have no vibrations
from the install?

A couple of things.....
1. Buy the install guide from Crutchfield for $5.00
2. Go to best buy and buy the wiring harnesses. They are about $10.00 for
both pairs.

3. To get the front door off, I got this from honda-acura.net
1) Remove the sail panel ahead of the side window by snapping it off via
force.
2) Remove all screws/snaps. There are 2 screws and one snap. The snap is on
the forward side of the door and must be pried off with a small screwdriver.
One screw is in the cupholder and one is hidden behind a little circular
door on the door handle.
3) Stick a screwdriver under the door panel and, working around from bottom
to top, pry up so that the door panel pops off. It's all held on by snaps
behind the door panel.
4) Manipulate the door handle through the hole in the door panel

The rear speaker covers should fit. If not, you can cut down the insides of
them. I had to do that when I put in some phoenix gold 6x9's
