I need amps that are small but put out 40-60 rms. I have been looking at
some Xtant amps on ebay.
I noticed that a high propotion of them are refurbished or
factory-reconditioned. Does this mean
that Xtant amps tend to break down a lot?

Xtant verry good SQ amp with ball's ! Used Xtant for 10 years never a
problem, But you cant beat them like you can some other amp's. Poeple
just don't do the homework and burn out the Amp's buy doing dumb
thing's! Xtant Amp's need good air flow and space to breathe If you
don't load them down they tend not to work well BUT, if you load them
down to much they tend to heat up real fast and take a crap! Like Old
Orion amps, old Fosgate power amps and Sounstream ref. If you want an
Amp that you can beat on Try one of the other names. Alpine MRV good
sound and can take a beating. A friend of mine had a MRV 320 running 4
Jl 10w6 dvc's.
