Hello,
we tend to use our boombox cassette player
quite a bit to play old tapes. We purchased
the cassette player about 4 months ago and play
about an hour of tapes a day.

I recently purchased a phillips wet tape cleaner
which has a cleaning tape and solution (from wmart).

is this safe to use on cassette player decks?

Please advice. THANKS

It is probably OK, but you might want to check with either Phillips or
the manufacturer listed on the package. As a perhaps safer
alternative, you might want to consider getting a cleaning cassette at
Radio Shack that uses a movable felt pads, not tape, to clean the heads
and capstans. Another safe method would be to use Q-tips with your
cleaning solvent.

I always try to do the cleaning manually using Q-tips.
I use Q-tip with longer stem available in medical
supply. I use sol. specifically use for this purpose
and made sure to gently clean the head and the
rolling rubbers dry.

Results: Extended highs, midrange becomes more
listenable
