Infinity RS-8 and matching center channels

[Mean]

I have a pair of RS-8s and I like them just fine. I know that the
Infinity CC-3 center channel is voice matched (same tweeter/woofer) but
they really cost quite a bit on Ebay nowadays. Is the CC-2 acceptable
in a modest system? My room is not that large so I don't need big
volumes. Besides, it can be had for as little as 1/3 the price. Are
there any other speakers that I could use instead that might match?

Voice matching is a valid concern for people who are looking into acquiring
a center channel speaker. It can easily take a lot more than just the same
drivers to obtaining good blending and smooth transitions when sound
involves both main speakers and the center speakers.

One of the advantages of the CC-3 over many competitive speakers are its
voice-matching controls, which the CC-2 lacks. I suspect that people are
paying a premium price for the voice matching controls, as opposed to
concerns over dynamic range.

The CC-2 has voice matching but only for high frequencies while the
CC-3 has both mid and high. Most talk of dynamic range and ability to
play loud as the motivators for buying the CC-3. Also I think folks
without Inifinity speakers think they can match the CC-3 to any old
main speakers as this feature is very rare. The manufacturer just
wants you to buy a matching set and doesn't bother with such controls.

That's their opinion. My opionion is that voice matching is very worthwhile.
I use 1/3 octave equalizers to achieve it.

Given that buying a matching set doesn't guarantee voice matching, that
seems kind of self-defeating.
