Quotage Mike's AES review...
"A few shows back, I was talking with John ("Father of British EQ ")
Oram of Trident Audio, telling him that people looking for their
first decent analog console were going after old Trident 65 models
and that he should consider making a console that would fit that
segment of the market. It should sell for a price that would allow
the buyer to seriously consider a new console rather than one in
possibly unknown condition that needed a lot of help before it could
become functional."
I enjoyed reading this since I am of that segment. I think the Dream
console is a great idea as well. I'm looking to buy a new console and
don't have 300,000.00 dollars for an SSL or anything of that nature.
But need to upgrade from my Allen & Heath for more inputs, better
pre's, better EQ, plus it's been going down on me more than a two
dollar.... well it's been going down a lot (Previous owner didn't
maintain it). I was previously looking at some used TSM 32's and they
were going for around 30k, some need work etc. These days it seems
you're either getting a mackie or a digital board for under 20k or
you're getting an SSL with much less in between. I hope they do well
with this product.
That said about the Dream console... I'm currently eyeing the 4T
Series 24 BEQ 40 channel board. Still looking for a studio in Nor Cal
that houses one so I can get some time behind it and take listen. It's
one of the few boards in production that fits my budget and has the
features I'm looking for now and features that my studio will grow
into.
On a more personal note, John Oram was one of the best guys I talked
to at AES taking time to answer my questions and didn't discriminate
against me being the "punk ass kid" that I only appear to be. Very
helpful. I wish more company's took customer service as serious as he
does.
Also, Mr. Rivers, thanks for the review it was a nice refresher after
I got home.
cheers
