I'm interested in getting into digital editing and have played around
quite a bit with Cool Edit Pro but the radio station I want to work
for use Pro Tools for all their production. So I've downloaded Pro
Tools 5.3.1 but it won't install properly saying it can't find
hardware. What hardware?! I thought Pro Tools was just a more powerful
editing programme than Cool Edit Pro but did basically the same thing.
Am I wrong? My computer is only a couple of months old running XP with
a 2.6 Pentium 4
In my spare time I also like to mix, owning a mixer and cd decks. I
was hoping that a computer programme such as Pro Tools would allow me
to 'remix' songs. I'm quite interested in just playing around sampling
other songs and making my own mixes. Is this possible with a bunch of
Mp3's and something like Pro Tools, or do I need something far more
sophisticated?! How would the likes of Fatboy Slim use samples? Does
he have to get special versions of songs from record companies in
order to sample for example a vocal or is there a way of extracting it
from a regular version on MP3 or CD or something?
Thanks for any help
