I am thinking about getting a UAD-1 studio pack. I don't have a clue on its
full applications and so I am pondering. I'm running Cubase SX. When I track,
I most always compress the vocals slightly with an outboard unit before the
signal hits the convertor. I don't see how that is possible with a UAD-1 card
because it needs to be converted first before it can access the signal. So
basically the UAD is a post preamp, post converted, processing device? Can
anyone please reply with some thoughts as how effective or not the UAD-1 is for
tracking? Ron

If you want to limit the signal before it hits the A/D converter, the UAD-1
will not help you.

The UAD-1 card works the same as the rest of your plug-ins. They are for
processing recorded tracks. You will not be able to compress through the
UAD while recording.

There is a standalone VST PLUGIN HARDWARE I don't recall the
manufacturer which will cost very high that can accept vst plugins
Interesting concept...
