Need a potameter for a Lexicon LXP-1

I have an LXP-1. I believe the input pot is bad, as I'm having a problem that
the thing basically "freaks out" periodically. And I can conjur this "freaking
out" episode by tapping the input knob. So.. here are my questions..

The pot is basically soldered onto the circuit board. I figure I get a new pot
and solder it on in place of the bad one. It's that easy, right?

Where can I find this particular pot? It has a bunch of model type numbers on
it. But I can't tell if its 50k or whatever. Anyone have any help on what kind
it is, exactly? And where I can find one?

I searched on 'Lexicon LXP-1' looking for a manual and meanwhile found a
site that lists part numbers for a lot of Lexicon stuff, LXP-1 input pot
included. It's up to you now, I didn't save it. Try adding 'input pot'
to your search.

The input pot is probably not bad. Probably when you are tapping the knob,
you are shaking the PC board, and there is a bad chip socket, cold solder
joint, or damaged trace on the board.

If you have a replacement. But it won't solve the problem. Tapping on the
board with a pencil will probably do the same thing.

Pots all used to be generic, but these days they are rare birds and most of
them wind up being custom made. Most of the time you wind up having to get
replacements from the manufacturer. But in this case, I doubt it's the pot.
I'd reseat everything socketed, put a little cramolin on them, and touch up
any remotely suspicious solder joints.

I seem to remember that this was a fairly common problem with this
unit. It can be alleviated by cleaning the pot, replacing the pot, or
modifying the unit to actually fix the problem, which is that there's
DC on the pot which creates noise when the pot is turned.

Yes and no. It's easy for someone who's used to working on electronic
equipment, but it may not be easy for someone who's never done it
before.

My usual advice is this: If you have to ask, you don't have enough
experience to be reasonably sure of not doing any damage.

Be sure to replace it. The chinese version 7's of LXP-1's had a run of
bad pots from JP in Korea. If you have an orange JP sticker on the pot
it's done.
It's double sided plated thru hole pcb and needs skill and desoldering
tools to remove cleanly or you may destroy it.

Be sure to replace it. The chinese version 7's of LXP-1's had a run of
