I've always really loved the sound of recordings made at Trident
Studios in the early 70's. Can anybody fill me in with some of the
gear they might have had in 1970?
ie: consoles(I'm pretty sure that they hadn't built their A range
console at that point), plates, compressors, tape machines, mics.
Anybody know what happened to Robin Geoffrey Cable who engineered
there?

thanks

Very cool pix, Bo.
Good Trident info here:
http://www.toftaudiodesigns.com/history.html
download the pdf of the Tape Op interview.
If I recall correctly, the A Range consoles were installed in 1972.
The pix are from later, judging from the outboard gear and A80's.

Outboard coming down from the ceiling. Now that's something I haven't
seen before. I wonder if that was common?

It's a 70s thing. I just spent a month at the Plant in Sausalito, which has the
outboard overhead. I find it less than convenient.
