View Full Version : Best sub $100 Mic at a Bush/Kerry Debate

I thought I would somewhat sarcastically combine all the garbage being
discussed here into one thread.
I vote Studio Projects B1 through a Studio Projects VTB-1, or an SM57
through a Shure 267. I'll bet dollars to donuts ( I'm a studio guy you
know!) that the Shure combo would get approved first...it was the most
requested combo in San Diego at the 1996 RNC.

What say you all?

good solid choice for political ramblings
though I have not seen any sort of constency in mic choices for Kerry

I don't know, but if I had a choice, I'd vote for FDR and also for the
Altec 639. I probably wouldn't vote for Ike, but the EV 664 is pretty
good. I'd definitely stay away from Saddam Hussein, but his Sennheiser 421s
are hard to beat. And while there are some good things to be said about
Fidel Castro as well as some bad ones, it's hard to say anything good
about the RCA ice cream cones that he STILL has on his desk in his press
conferences. Isn't he EVER going to get a decent mike? Why didn't he
get some Bytetones before the Soviets pulled out?

You know, and Bush has used the same broken down barely working sm57 that
he's had for years and refuses to change!

I doubt that you will see the President of the US speaking through a
Chinese microphone on US TV ... but where are those SM57's made,
today?

Maybe because an American company manufactured it in Mexico?

Mexico. But don't worry, the Mexican foreign policy is made in the US,
so it all evens out.

Whatever mic Bush uses, it is imperative that a bull**** filter is put on it,
otherwise it will clog up real fast.

Mmmm, that's the first thing I've heard about this guy that I like.

I use the same barely working sm57 that I've had for years and refuse to change.
Perhaps I should look into this candidate a little more...

I think the "sphincterphone" would be perfect!
Why don't they just bring in two robots with speakers in thier chests.
Anyone check out the 32 page contract these clowns came up with?

I think the electret was never fully energised in the first place, or it
charge has been diminished by added impurities over the years, maybe some
sort of dust.

Needs more coherent phanton power to sound intelligable, an even then may
end up with false tones.
