Hi All
I'm interested in getting a new rack mount DAT recorder and had decided to
get the Tascam DA-40 machine. In checking with different pro audio dealers
these recorders are no longer being made an are therefore unavailable. I had
an offer for a used one and I emailed Scott Dorsey as to what I should look
out for. His advice was to check for head hours as quite a few of these
machines were used in post production suites and probably would have very
high head hours. I declined the offer and decided to try to find a new
machine. I did fine a new Sony PCM-R500 recorder at an online distributor
that has similar balanced in's and out's as the Tascam DA-40, but I would
appreciate any input about any experience anyone here has had with this
unit. Thanks in advance.
