View Full Version : Thinking of upgrading from Genelecs 1030 ...

I am very happy with what I have (Schoeps, Neumann, Millennia, Lavry
etc.) and have no further desire in this direction. The only thing I
am sometimes pondering about, is a possibility of having bigger
monitors (not that 1030s sound bad). I feel that music can be
perceived better and more accurately if the monitors are larger. But I
have no exact idea in which direction to go. Maybe you could advice ?

1) My "control room" is not very big (I am actually moving but even
the next room may not be very big)

2) Mine is pure acoustic music near to classical with some ethnic
instruments, vocals etc. No rock, pop, synths, techno etc.

3) The monitors should be active and within max. 3 - 4 000 dollars
range. They should be extremely accurate, yet pleasant and musical
(and suitable for my style of music) - and should be a way better than
Genelecs 1030, of course

I am thinking - maybe Dynaudio ? Or some bigger Genelecs ? Or ?

Thanks for your advice ...

Personally, I don't like the 1030 for acoustic music at all. I'd suggest
going to the guy you bought them from and asking the audition the S30.

There are plenty of other fine monitors out there, but the S30 is about
as different from the 1030 as it's possible to be, and it will give you
some notion of the range available.
