I went from an 880 to a computer based DAW. The 880 format is proprietary
indeed, no option to record them otherwise, and the only way I got the
tracks over was to record them in real time. Fortunately for me it was only
a stereo pair at a time.

I sold the 880, and have forgotten how many outputs one can have going on at
one time. There ought to be at least four - main LR and aux LR. But the
880 also has SPDIF out, so that may be yet another pair LR, so maybe it's
six at a time (routing and hard panning each pair, of course, to the
appropriate outs.)
