View Full Version : Trouble w/Toast w/Jam 5 on Mac!

Any help would save the week!
When I hit the burn CD "button" in Jam, I get an error message -37.
Anyone familiar with this? I never had this happen before in 5 years of use.
Toast, when used alone, works fine (audio, data,DVD).
I'm on a Mac G4/867 DP, 700-something MB memory, 9.2 OS with Toast/Jam 5.0.
Thanks for any clues, Dean

Have you tried trashing your preferences for jam?
http://www.appleerrorcodes.com/
The above site reports this:
-37 bdNamErr Bad file name; there may be no bad names in the final system!
Don't know for sure what your prob is. It could be a conflicting
extension between the 2 programs. Did you just install Jam or has it
been working fine for you up til now?
Good Luck

Here's a wild guess question, based on my experience:
Did you happen to change OS's from 8.6 to 9.2 recently? When I did that,
Toast would no longer work. Only the Apple CD Burner application worked.
It has an icon that looks like an old Civil Defense sign.
After messing with it for a while, I went back to 8.6. I own versions of
9 and x, but I don't use them.
Please let me know - was this it?

Any chance there are too many characters in the file name? (Shouldn't
happen, yeah, but sometimes **** that isn't supposed to happen is right
on the carpet.)

First I woulld try booting from startup disk and do repair of hard
drive. I had error messages before from programs because of corrupted
finder index or solmething like that. Then next trash any preferences
for Jam or Toast or any audio related thing. Then check the memory and
make sure you have enough and also probably make sure virtual memory
is turned off. And also, make sure you have enough space on your hard
drives for temporary image of CD to be burned. Toast makes a temp
image of it.

I get this -37 error message if I forget to quit PT, or any other audio
program, when I start up Jam 2.6.2. (G3, OS 9.2)
Toast will work fine with PT running, but Jam won't.
