Is that a good deal?

Don't know how many of you have shopped at Pro Sound & Stage's web site
(www.pssl.com), but they have an outlet section where they get rid of
new-in-the-box inventory along with their display and used and scratch and dent
items. Anyway, they had a pair of BX5's for $149. Should I jump on that?

I don't do any serious studio work, I'm just a mobile DJ that does basic
editing/mastering to songs using Soundforge. But I need something to hear out
of instead of headphones.

If you only cut and paste rather than shape the sound of the music
you're editing, they'll probably do just fine. If you care about
what the low end sounds like while you're editing, then you need
something that will reproduce that.

There's a review of the the BX5 in the July issue of Pro Audio Review.
It doesn't say a whole lot about that speaker (it's mostly about how
well it integrates with the companion subwoofer) but Dr. Fred says
"Subjectively, they sound very smooth, non-fatiguing, and quite
float, although, of course, the low end doesn't rattle any windows. . .
the bottom line is that they sound great without much tweaking . . "

For $149, that sounds like a pretty safe bet, even unheard.
