Bush: U.S. probes possible Iran links to 9/11.
Tehran government hiding Al Qaeda members, president says
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Iran is harboring members of al Qaeda, and the
United States is investigating whether the Iranian government had a role
in the September 11, 2001, attacks, President Bush said Monday.

Halliburton is subpoenaed over Iran ties
A grand jury subpoenas info about its Cayman Islands unit, which has
operations in Iran.
HOUSTON (Reuters) - Oil field services company Halliburton Co. received
a grand jury subpoena earlier this month seeking information about its
Cayman Islands unit, which conducts operations in Iran, the company said
Monday.
U.S. companies are prohibited by law from doing business with Iran.

And still not nearly enough. There is a good reason people are getting
scared and wanting to talk about this **** everywhere they can. There
are some important parallels to the past rise to power of some very
nasty leaders, and it is happening right under your nose. You obviously
underestimate the seriousness of what is going on in the US right now.
Your pro audio discussions are going to be pretty insignificant in short
order the way things are headed.

Apparently, because despite the number of times it's been pointed out
that this is off-topic, it hasn't been enough. If it had been, people
wouldn't still be posting off-topic stuff.

Yes, right, of course. I disagree with your decision to post off-topic
stuff, therefore I must obviously be less aware than you about what's
going on in the US. Did it occur to you that being condescending will
not help your cause? Did it occur to you that maybe I'm not a rabid
pro-Bush guy trying to attack you because I disagree with your point
of view and instead I'm actually really just annoyed at your lack of
netiquette?

His wasn't off-topic. It was trying to steer the focus back onto
SOMETHING audio-related. Is there a post-production studio in Iran
we're talking about? No? Then the discussion is irrelevant to this
newsgroup. That's actually pretty logical and easy to see, right?
It's not necessary that you beat this to death in here. The short
history of internet discussion shows that people are already polarized
on issues like this, and arguing until you're blue in the face isn't
going to change a single person's opinion. So it's not only off-topic,
but useless posturing as well.
I'd rather read "What's the cheapest mic for capturing a canary?"
posts. At least it has something to do with audio.
My modified PZMs have a rising high frequency all the way out to
about 24KHz! Their specified top end is 18KHz. I wonder how that
happened? It could even be higher; my measurement system hits
Nyquist limits at 24KHz. <---(Obligatory audio content)

"I am forcing people to examine thier core beliefs"
IOW George, you are bragging about your use of force on people. You are
bragging that you are able to make them do something that is against their

News? Isn't that the whole point? People have a need to discuss and
decide what is REALLY happening. This is important. News is not always
telling us the real scoop.
Why discuss audio? You can just read the manuals. You can read the
books. The point is the news group is here to discuss real world
applications of those manuals and books. People talking about hands on
experience.
The manual says use the small d for over head, the large d for vocals.
But wait, someone here found something different worked great in a
certain situation, lets discuss.
I agree it would be good if I could discuss the off topic stuff
elsewhere, but with the people here. I wish we could have an off topic
section. I don't want to go to the political news group with a bunch of
people I know nothing about and battle it out there, it is really much
less meaningful, and even more partisan than here, that is for sure.
> Now we need some help finding Pro Audio talk.
But that is a **** poor argument. Who is stopping you? Who forces you to
read the ot stuff? You can still find plenty of threads on the best
200 microphone. And it is archived for all eternity <g>
I apoligize and do agree it is a pain to click through all this crap to
find the real audio threads, but they are still there. And you are still
free to post and respond to them. In fact Phil Allison is just dying to
hear from you <g>.
It would be much better if we could have another section to spew this
other stuff in. Can't somebody set it up?

Come on George, if you can't say what you mean, why should we pay a moment's

Playon, how can you judge George properly when you are caught up in the same
paranoia and agresssive behavior patterns?
There are over 20,000 Usenet forums, at least a 1,000 that are dedicated to
politics and social issues. Guys like you and George are obviously afraid to
play with even the small boys in political discussions.

This is one of the first concepts that fascism wanted to impose to us

There are many and many newsgroups for a thread like your and you want

There are over 20,000 Usenet groups, at least 1000 or more deal with social

Well George, why not invite those names you know to join you in a forum
where your discusion would be on topic?
I know one reason why you don't do this George, you know you lack the
personal influence to pull this off.
I know another why George - you've already said so - you desire to impose
yourself on people who are just here do to audio. It's your equivalent of a

I frankly don't care about the answers to 95% of the newbie questions.
I've been doing audio for thirty years and don't give two cents about
the new AKG mike or new PC audio card blah blah. I'm not a prosumer. I
don't need to buy much of anything anymore.
Nobody forces me to read the newbie threads either. But you ARE
forcing everyone to read your headers, which are off-topic.
I'm here to help out the small fry so I can ask bigger questions when
the time comes. Like what is a replacement cap for my 2" 24 track
repro board when I need the advice in the next 15 minutes. That advice
appears like magic because the die-hards have stayed with the group
and have not gone off to a moderated board.
Which is a risk.
Many are gone who were active just 3 years ago. They got sick of the
bull****.

Phil Allison can suck my dick. He is a great big zero with no
recording background.
I occasionally chat it up with the political side of things in here
but my point is that we could start threads on AIDS, child
molestation, boat safety and anything that we feel is vital for our
attention. But to say that your off-topic posts are more important
than audio (which is the sentiment that SHOUTED off-topic headers
project, like it or not) will always make the hordes say - "Then find
a more receptive group!"
I don't open the newspaper and look for comics on the front page and
gardening articles in the classified ads. While usenet is the Wild
Frontier, it stands a good chance of becoming insensible without some
self-policing. That's all.
As a general rule -

well after last week where I was out 5 days with a national level 100
act bluegrass festiival(www.greyfoxbluegrass.com), and tomorrow I set up
3 stages for Oswego Ny's Harborfest(300,000 in attendence) i will not be
able to pleasure arny with any more posts till at least sunday late at
night if I bother to log on after 96 straight hours of audio
so one can easily see I am just a lonely desperate man with nothing to
do except play the foil so arnys wisdom has a chance to shine
peace

You could be right, you could be wrong. But unlike the OT crap you fill your
days with Playon, discussing it would be a relevant discussion for this
forum. Why haven't you asked me some relevant questions about your thoughts
about my thoughts about audio? It takes no more time than the OT crap that
you fill your days with.
Personally Playon, I think you're too timid and too poorly informed to get
into a serious discussion of audio specs, etc. I have zero respect for
cowardice and intentional ignorance. Few people do. Furthermore I think this
kind of fear and ignornace affects a lot of the vigorous OT posters.

I'll compare On Topic post counts to you any day of the week. Remember, this
is an Off Topic post.

George when't the last day where you made as many audio-related
posts on RAP as the politics and the anti-religiou crap? Oh, I forgot,
you're
too busy bashing people because of their politics and religion to
have much time for audio. Face it George, you're just a lonely man who is
looking for
attention at any cost. You apparently don't do enough with audio to have
that
much to say about it."
Sure, and that's pretty much the same thing I've said to George today. So
where's the beef?
I'll still compare On Topic post counts to you any day of the week.

That's not it at all, George. You made up a list of stupid beliefs, and then
you said they're my beliefs. Since you made them up, they are actually your
beliefs. Don't blame me for your bad theology!

Oh I see. It is about the percentage of your off topic posts. And what
exactly have YOU decided is the standard for an acceptable off-topic
percentage?

Reading comprehension failing? What is unclear about "On Topic post counts".
> And what exactly have YOU decided is the standard for an acceptable
off-topic percentage?
Irrelevant question, for the reason just cited, due to the gratuitous
inclusion of the word percentage.
BTW Pete, a quick retrieval from google suggests that you made exactly 1
(one) audio-related post here since the beginning of the month. Your post
neither asked a question nor did it discuss audio in a meaningful way nor
did it add anything else of value.
Therefore, its safe to say that you either don't have much active interest
or involvement in audio or think you know it all but don't want to share any
of it. Could you be much more irrelevant to the formally stated goals of
this group? Why don't you find a nice politics or social questions related
group to post in?

On both sides.
Seriously folks (on both sides): I enjoy a good political discussion as much as the next guy but could we all make a reasonable effort to keep the personal attacks down to a low roar?
