I'm thinking of adding an RME ADI-8 to my portable Motu 828 rig for
better A/D/A and clock. My question concerns real-time monitoring.

I would like to tap the input signals before they go via ADAT to the
laptop w/o a splitter or patchbay. Getting to the question: Can I take
the main adat out to the 828 for recording, and loop the aux adat out
to the adat in and monitor off the RME's D/A?

It seems like its doable, but I thought I'd ask someone who had one.

Thanks.

Jay

It will work, but you will have the use of all eight channels at 44.1/48k but only four at 88.2/96k.

Why not just put some Y cables on the ADI-8 analog inputs?

Thanks. I'm all 44.1 for now.

Mostly for tidiness and portablilty, I guess. Less snakes, no need
for a bay or repatching for playback.
