I'm trying to figure out why these things are "C-clamped" together.
The guy in the picture doesn't look very happy, I guess he doesn't
want to sell the subs.

At a couple of pounds of thrust/square foot, if these things aren't on a
hard surface, they can move. I suspect that he wants them to look neat in
the picture too.
