View Full Version : Lynx Two Question

So, I've got Nuendo with a Digi 001 box/ASIO & it works...& I can go back and
forth between PTLE & Nuendo pretty easily if I like so that's convenient.

I'd like to get something good like the Lynx two.
My needs: I only overdub here...no more than 2 channels at a time so I don't
need alot of inputs.
I only import files off of CDs(ie:BCWs from Radar)so I don't need to be locked
to anything either.

I'd like to be able to send 2 outputs from the Lynx to a Mackie 1202 to monitor
along with 2 outputs tapped off of a mic pre even though Direct Monitoring
through Nuendo is not too bad...and Lynx has some type of Mix software but that
seems like a pain.

Can the basic Lynx Two Model A do this? Am I understanding the breakout cable
correctly or is there a piece of hardware I need that I'm missing?

Sure. The Lynx breakout cable goes to a pair of XLRs for output.
You'll need adapter cables to connect these to the Mackie line level
inputs (1/4" TRS) but that's easy.

What you won't be able to do, unless you keep the Digi001, is run
ProTools. That's the "hardware key" that makes it go. It won't work
with the Lynx. Many people have chosen Nuendo over ProTools but having
access to PT does give you a certain degree of flexibility, and I
suspect there may be some things that it does better or easier than
Nuendo, though I'm not familiar enough wiht either to hazard a guess
as to what they might be.

The LynxTwo Model A breakout cable has 4 outputs...I'm assuming 4 XLRs?

I don't know much but i do know that....it would be cool if the Lynx card could
co-exist with the 001 card in the same machine.

I have an L22, and its analog breakout cable has four XLRs, two out
and two in. Its digital breakout cable has two XLRs, one stereo in and
one stereo out, plus two BNCs for word clock in and out. You can use
the analog and digital outputs simultaneously, but you can't use the
analog and digital inputs simultaneously for four channels going in.

The LynxTWO comes in several configurations, splitting up eight streams
between inputs and outputs - four in and four out, two in and six out, or
six in and two out. I believe that without the L-Stream expansion (which can
also be used with the L22), the TWO has only one stereo AES/EBU in and
out pair.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't, but I'll bet if you were to
ask Lynx, they could tell you. I know that people use additional I/O
hardware for ProTools.
