hello all, I'm thinking of building a home studio in the basement. any
suggestions as to how to insulate the floor above to keep sound
transmissions between floors to a minimum?
Thanks

The floor above is oak strip over 3/4" boards. the floor joists are 2x10 or
2x12's. I've not started construction yet, so it's pretty much a blank
slate.

I know what you mean by that, but it's not blank at all. The dimensions
and underlying wall material are fixed and you'll need to design around
those. That's a pretty big deal; start with assessing their effects.
