Need help with Alesis QS7

Here is my setup:

My audio/ midi setup is the Alesis QS7 synth connected via MIDI to
the MOTU 828mkII firewire audio interface. The MOTU is connected via
firewire to my G4 Mac running OS 10.3 "Panther". The program I am
using to record is Digital Performer 4.12.

The audio works great, but the problem is getting the Alesis to
transmit and receieve MIDI on 16 channels. The Audio MIDI Setup
Utility recognizes the Alesis, but shows that is can only transmit on
1 channel, but can recieve on 16 channels. DP 4 recognizes the Alesis
and shows all programs and voices, but still only lets me play and
record data on one channel. Program changes don't seem to work. What
setting should the Alesis be on? I've tried various combinations and
settings and none seem to work. Has anyone else had these issues with
the Alesis? Anyone with advice would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the QS7 is in "Mix" mode. When it's in Program mode, it can
only transmit on one channel. Mix mode is the multitimbral,
multichannel mode.
