I have a Krell/Apogee system. By comparison, yours stinks.

Iv'e been using heavy guage automotive jumper cables for amp tp speaker
wiring. We first got a metal worker in to figure how best to connect the
clamps to the terminals, but ended up just spot welding the cable ends to the
amp and speaker terminals.

Spot welding isn't very good for this, which is probably why your
system sounds the way it does. Jumper cables are stranded, and spot
welding wouldn't attach but a few strands to the terminals. Have you
considered switching to solid copper wire of the same gage? Since some
people like flat speaker cable, you might find flat bar stock to be a
good choice.

Preamps are bad for the sound. The extra cable length and circuit paths
makes the sound more "distant", and those delicate Panasonic electrons
are liable to get bruised by all that extra processing.

That was unnecessary. It would have been more efficient to turn the amp up
full, wait for a loud passage, and touch the cables to the sockets, thereby
generating a truely audio-weld.

I do alot of work with gold. Ty I think the connections should have been
done with gold solder. It is not really that expensive. I would only have
to charge you about $30 per weld (at 14K), or $40 per weld (at 18K). But
you know, if you are going to spend that much money you should just let me
use a fusion welder. That way I could use pure 24K gold.
www.arwoods.com for examples of some of my welding. Not braging but I 'm
really good at that welding stuff! Please email me the amp and speakers
tonight if possible, so I can start on them in the morning. Please indicate
your choice of carats with your order. I could also make 24k (Not plated
but SOLID) headphone, guitar and other plugs that you might need.
Thanks,

I've listened to a lot of wires. Linn, Naim, and Exposure are the only
affordable ones I have liked at all. The rest were no better than lamp
cord.
You need a much better CD player with that system. I recommend Arcam.

You're all pathetic losers. Check my system out:
I constructed a special listening room that allows me to control the
pressure, gas mixture, humidity, temperature, etc. with extreme
precision. The ceiling consists of an array of tungsten spikes to
which I apply a potential of about 100KV (relative to the floor),
creating a continuous corona discharge. This ionizes the gas in the
room (I really can't call it air, since it's mostly argon). The room
is enclosed in a very large superconducting coil, which creates a
magnetic bottle to contain and manipulate the ionized gas (let's just
go ahead and call it plasma). I have a bank of very large amplifiers
that modulate the plasma containment coils with the audio signal. The
modulated field compresses and rarifies the plasma to create sound.
It's kind of like sitting inside of a huge Hill plasma driver. No
moving parts, really great transient response, all kinds of
advantages.
There are a few drawbacks, though. First, you have to wear an oxygen
mask while listening. I tried leaving O2 in the room's mix, but the
resulting ozone tended to eat away at anything organic (e.g., skin,
hair). Also, I had to get a special suit made to provide electrical
isolation from the corona spikes. [Note: if you try to reproduce this
system, it helps to keep a trained EMT with a defibrillator close by
while listening, in case of suit failure.] I ended up airconditioning
the suit, too, since the multi-ampere corona discharge tends to heat
up the room a little. In spite of the suit/mask protection, I seem to
be suffering from a few health problems that may or may not be caused
by my sound system--hair loss, memory loss, loss of bladder/sphincter
control, and other symptoms similar to those of victims of nuclear
attack. But if you aren't willing to make a few sacrifices for
superior sound, why bother listening to music at all?
My biggest disappointment, however, is this: it hasn't turned out to
be the babe magnet that I thought it would. Most women just don't seem
to grok the simple fact that any sufficiently esoteric audio system is
indistinguishable from an experiment in high-energy physics.

Actually, that's not the way it works. According to Dr. Hill (whom I know), the
sound is produced by a thermal effect within the gas.
If you've never heard the Hill plasma driver -- it's nothing short of
incredible. "Everything else is gas light."

I just drop my guts.
Doesn't work with the chicks, either.

48 pole pieces and windings, each with its own 40 KW class-A power amp.
There is a secret ultra-high-voltage superconducting cable from the Niagara
Falls power station, under central Ontario, under the Detroit River, and
north from Canada into the basement of my house. The liquid helium from the
power cable is used to cool the amps. Everybody in Grosse Pointe talks with
a slightly higher voice because of the venting helium vapors.

If the answer is none, then it isn't of much use or interest to me.

You have to mention the power cords, otherwise I cannot comment on your setup.

Cords are no good for power. You need cables.
