I was running Pro Tools LE 4.0.1 on a G4 with OS 9.0.4.

I installed the Pitch n Time 2.0.1 Demo (which Serato suggested I use
with my system) in Digidesign/Plug-In Updaters/DAE Folder/Plug-Ins.
When I launched Pro Tools I got the following message:

"Pro Tools hardware is either not installed or used by another
program"

I clicked "OK" and Pro Tools closed itself.

I moved the Pitch n Time 2.0.1 Demo from the Plug-Ins folder to the
desk top, but still Pro Tools gave me the same message. I deleted PnT.
Still no Pro Tools. So I installed Pro Tools LE 5.1. Same message. It
hangs at "DAE Loaded" if that helps.

Can anyone help me with such an antiquated system? I need both my Pro
Tools back and to get PnT running.

Thanks

while you're at it, you might as well update your MacOS to the final
release of OS9 (9.2.2, i believe?). i'm not sure if 5.1 is supported
with OS 9.0.4 ...maybe it is, but that's one thing to check if you're
not sure.

double check to make sure that you don't have your digi hardware
selected for system output. if you do and you have another program,
such as iTunes or Quicktime, etc. open, it might be tying up your
hardware.

another thing is to do is trash your digisetup file from your
preferences folder and restart. if you feel saucy, trash your DAE and
PT preferences too. why not? it's still spring, right!? wipe off the
cobwebs and start anew.

hope this helps...

This is good advice for anyone still running the pre-OSX Mac OS; 9.2.2
is excellent and remains my own working system of preference.

That's what I needed to do last time I got that sort of commment. It seems
contra-intuitive, but you need to select the mac for output in the Mac sound
control panel.
