This problem has just started occuring over the last couple of weeks. I put
a disc in and the display doesn't change from Close to the flashing
'--:--:--' that is usually displayed when reading a disc.
After about 15 seconds, the tray will eject saying that there is No Disc. I
insert the disc a second time and it will invariably begin to read it. For
some CDs, I might have to put it in three times.
Has any had or heard of a similar problem?
Thanks,
Schiz

How old is the unit? It may need a cleaning. If you're brave, you can try
it yourself, but don't use one of those lens cleaner CD's, you have to open
it up and clean it with a Qtip. This is what I do when I get a similar
problem.
Happens after several months, typically.

Depending on the mechanism, there's a limit switch somewhere.
Looks like it's either dirty, broken or not well adjusted.
Something that's usually an easy fix, if you know where to look.
You might try wiggling the tray when it is retracted. If that helps,
it definitely is the switch.
