View Full Version : Tape reversed side A and B - how to fix?

Hi,
my cassette deck attempted to eat some of my tape and I tried fixing it by
opening the audio cassette and putting a splice near one end, just after the
"B B" mark. Now, when I play it, it seems that side A actually plays side B
and vice versa, so the music is all in reverse. I did not unwind the tape
and put it back incorrectly, not as far as I know at least.
Can anyone tell me if they have seen this before and how to fix it?
Thanks,
-Prince

maybe you put in error the full spool to the right side instead of the left,
where it should be

I don't believe I did that. Would there be the same symptoms if I
accidentally flipped
the while splicing? That is, if what was the tape "top (or head) side" is
now the bottom?
Will the head still play out the sounds but effectively in reverse and also
softer? Can it
sense songs recorded on the other side of the tape?

You have the tape in upside down, with the oxide facing away from the
head. I think you will find it twisted somehow. But thats the reason it
is backwards
