**Nope. I haven't seen one. I'll attempt to find out for you. In general,
however, any player which costs more than around AUS$500.00 (about 200
Squid) will use superior quality bits and smarter technology. Does that
help?

BJTs for muting are present in all major leaugue brands.
You'll have to look at gear from smaller companies (that are probably
more expensive) to find other solutions for the muting, like relays or
muting in the digital domain.

**Wrong. NAD, Rotel, Marantz, Sony and many others, all use relays for
muting, in their premium products. Cheap ones will always BJTs.

**Nope.

While I had the cheaper models in mind, I didn't write that clearly
enough.
BTW I consider Marantz, NAD and Rotel not major league brands, like
Sony or Pioneer are.

Perhaps not NAD or Rotel, but I would certainly put Marantz into the same
league as Pioneer for some of their low-end receivers. They don't sound
extraordinary and not particularly expensive.
