View Full Version : IDMAX port question

Hey all,
I'm building a vented enclosure for my IDMAX and I wanted to get some
opinions about my vent setup. It will be a 2.5cf box tuned to 29Hz. I can
do either a single 4" port 10" long (29.1Hz) OR dual 4" ports 25 (29.79Hz).
Being only 37.5" wide externally dual ports may be really hard to do. The
port(s) is/are going to exit on the same side as the sub so it will make a
90 degree turn in the enclosure.
Anybody think I'll lose or gain much going one way or the other? A single 4"
port should have plenty of vent area, but more can't really hurt. The vent
velocity will be about 163 ft/sec with the single port and about 85 ft/sec
with the dual setup.
TIA!

Sorry paul... no first had experience.
POst this to the termpro.com forum. lots of cab tuning pros lurk there,
some sponsored DB comps. many with first hand experience with that sub.

I hit up sounddomain already since they have an ID forum moderated by the ID
tech staff so hopefully I'll hear something soon. I'll try termpro anyway.
Can't really have too many opinions.

I would say a single rectangular port would be a viable option ...
especially for having it turn 90 degrees. WinISD shows a IDQ10 in a 1.8cf
box tuned to 29Hz uses a port 5.5" X 3.2" x 27.3"
I don't have the IDMAX in the database.
Lowering the vent velocity is always a good thing ...

I've got it worked out with the dual 4" ports so it'll be all good. I
didn't want to do a slot ports since it has an angled side and it would have
made the box huge. I'll post after I get it in and running.
