DTS not working on DVD recorder1

I am trying to play DTS from my DVD recorder through my Panasonic
Receiver/DVD combo's optical input. DD 5.1 plays with no problem but DTS
doesn't. I have enabled DTS in the DVD recorder through bitstream but it
still won't work. IF I choose PCM and push the audio button on the dvd
recorder it says it is playing DTS BUT there is no DTS symbol lighting up on
the receiver/dvd like it does when the receiver/dvd's dvd player plays DTS.
Are the DTS decoders in the Receiver/dvd combos only for the DVD player in
the combo or will they decode from the digital input as well. My Home
theater receiver/dvd player is the SCHT-920 from Panasonic and the DVD
recorder is the Panasonic DMR E55S. ANY help or input would be greatly
appreciated... very, very, much!!
